MANILA, Philippines — Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal on Thursday revealed that at least three personnel assigned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) have been infected with the novel coronavirus.
“Tatlo po ‘yan base sa aming pagtatala,” Monreal said in a televised Laging handa press briefing.
(There are three airport personnel infected with the virus based on our records.)
One of the three infected airport personnel has already recovered from the respiratory disease, Monreal noted.
The Philippines so far has 10,004 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 658 deaths and 1,506 recoveries.
NAIA, the country’s main gateway, is preparing to implement new guidelines as MIAA adopted new protocols set by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for a “new normal” in international and domestic terminals across the country.
Monreal earlier said the agency has purchased a total of 2,765 boxes or 133,750 pieces of surgical masks and has also initiated the procurement of 4,5000 articles of washable masks.
