COVID-19 cases in PNP now at 114; 4th death recorded

MANILA, Philippines — Two more policemen were diagnosed with the coronavirus disease, hiking the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippine National Police (PNP) to 114.

In a statement on Wednesday, PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said the PNP Health Service recorded the new cases in Metro Manila.

The policemen, aged 32 and 29, were assigned in Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, Banac said PNP Patient 110, a 48-year-old police officer from Parañaque, succumbed to the coronavirus disease and kidney failure. This raises the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in PNP to four.

Meanwhile, the number of recovered PNP personnel remained at 17.

Also, 369 police personnel were listed as probable while 375 were classified as suspects.

The Department of Health said suspects are those with COVID-19 symptoms but have not been tested for the novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2, which causes the respiratory ailment.

Probable, meanwhile, are suspected carriers of COVID-19 but are awaiting their confirmatory test results.
