Quezon tally: 27 suspected coronavirus carriers dead before test results known
LUCENA CITY–Health authorities in Quezon released late on Wednesday (May 6) a tally showing that at least 27 persons suspected of coronavirus infection had died in the province without even knowing if they were sick of COVID-19.
In a report released 5 p.m., the Quezon public information office (QPIO) said out of 1,161 suspected virus carriers, 27 had already died although results of tests made on respiratory samples collected from them have not been known yet.
The QPIO gave no other details about the deaths of the suspected carriers but this was the first time it made public the fatality tally among suspected COVID-19 patients, previously branded as “persons under investigation.”
The report released by the QPIO, citing data from the Department of Health, showed also that 266 suspected COVID-19 patients had already been discharged from hospitals.
The QPIO also reported that 636 suspected virus carriers with mild symptoms had completed quarantine while 139 are still on isolation.
Only 93 suspected COVID-19 carriers still remain confined in different hospitals in the province.
