HABAL DRIVER KILLED

A 32-YEAR-OLD habal-habal driver was shot dead allegedly by his neighbor in barangay Santa Cruz, Lilo-an town, northern Cebu, last Tuesday morning.

Jerome Castro, a resident of barangay Tabla, suffered gunshot wounds in the back, neck and face.

Police said Castro went to sitio Kabingkay where he chanced upon the alleged suspect, Randy Langares.

During the encounter, Langares allegedly drew a revolver and shot Castro repeatedly, said police.

Lagares fled after the attack.

The two men bore grudges against each other that may have triggered the attack, said police.

MAN SHOT, HURT IN BALAMBAN

A 28-YEAR-OLD man was shot and wounded by an unidentified assailant in barangay Buanoy, Balamban town, Cebu.

John Robert Barila was standing in a dark portion of a road when he was shot past 1 a.m. yesterday. Fortunately, he just sustained a graze wound in the neck, said police.

Barilia was rushed to the Balamban District Hospital.

Police said revenge could be the motive in the shooting.

PO2 Hannibal Larida of the Balamban police station said a background check revealed that the Barila was accused of being a Peeping Tom.

DEAD MAN FOUND

A DECOMPOSING body of a 22-year-old man was found in sitio Kaawa, barangay Perrelos, Carcar City, southern Cebu.

Police identified the fatality as Yoes Quijano.

The body was found by Winston Codero, 24, a security guard of the Sta. Lucia Subdivision at 8:30 a.m. yesterday.

The body was found near an electric post beside the subdivision’s gate in sitio Kaawa.

PO1 Ed Clint Maranan of the Carcar police said the man may have been electrocuted because of burn marks in his body.

2 MEN FALL IN DRUG BUY-BUST

TWO men were arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in barangay Sabang, Sibonga town, southern Cebu, last Tuesday night.

Police said seven small sachets of suspected shabu were seized Niño Delos Reyes, 27, while another two sachets believed to contain shabu were recovered from Alex Rio, 35.

Police said the buy-bust operation happened outside Delos Reyes’ house.

MAN STABBED BY NEIGHBOR

A 35-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed and wounded by his neighbor during a drinking session in barangay Poblacion, Toledo City, midwest Cebu.

Arnold Baron was wounded in the stomach. His alleged attacker, Elmer Dela Peña, 55, was arrested by police in a hot-pursuit operation.

Police said Baron and Dela Peña were together in a drinking session when the latter suddenly stabbed the former with a knife.

Police are still investigating what drove Dela Peña to stab Baron.

Baron was brought to the Toledo City Hospital.

MAN NABBED FOR DRUGS

POLICE arrested a 27-year-old man in a drug buy-bust operation in barangay Poblacion, Cordova town, off Mactan Island Cebu.

Police said Roberto Tajanlangit was arrested while selling a pack of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer last Tuesday afternoon.

Seized from Tajanlangit were a small plastic sachet believed to contain shabu, P400 cash, P200 in busy-bust money, a cell phone, a lighter and tin foils.

PO2 Charlie Valmoria said the man was placed under surveillance for a week before the buy-bust operation was made.
