MANILA, Philippines—With continuous rains brought by a cold front, residents of seven villages in two towns in Leyte were evacuated as these were prone to flooding, the Regional Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) said Wednesday.

Thirty one families from barangays Cogon, Cangumbang, Takuranga and San Antonio in Palo were evacuated in village halls, while 56 families in Barangays Dist.6, San Jose East, San Jose West in Burauen were evacuated in community centers.

The Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration said in its forecast Wednesday that Visayas will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over the Eastern Visayas, which may trigger flash floods and landslides due to a diffused tail-end of a cold front affecting the Visayas regions.
