Over 20 hurt in Ilocos Norte road accident

LAOAG CITY, Philippines—More than 20 passengers were hurt when a bus bound for this city overturned along a road in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte on Monday morning.

Police Officer 1 Francisco Galo of the Bacarra police said Alberto Abian, driver of the Mayan Express bus, lost control of the steering wheel when he tried to avoid hitting a motorcycle as the bus approached an intersection in the town at 8:30 a.m.

Galo said the more than 20 injured passengers were taken to various hospitals in the province.

He said the bus, which plies the Pagudpud-Laoag City route, had about 40 passengers at the time of the accident.
