DOH tests over 55,000 people for COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) has tested over 55,000 persons for the virus that causes the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) since it was first reported in the country.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire on Monday said 55,465 people have been tested as of April.
The tests were done in the following institutions:
University of the Philippines National Institute for Health – 1,264 tests
San Lazaro Hospital – 1,118 tests
Chinese General Hospital – 130 tests

Lung Center of the Philippines – 2,365 tests
St. Lukes Quezon City – 1,612
V. Luna Hospital – 101 tests
The Medical City – 265 tests
Makati Medical Center – 568 tests
St. Lukes Global City – 1,646 tests
Research Institute for Tropical Medicine – 34,350
Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center – 3,107
Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center – 2,699 tests
Southern Philippines Medical Center – 2,402 tests
Western Visayas Medical Center – 1,903 tests
Bicol Regional Public Health Laboratory – 174 tests
So far, 6,459 individuals were confirmed to have the COVID-19, 428 of whom have already died, while 613 were able to recover.
The positive cases were only 11.6 percent of the total of individuals tested for the new coronavirus.

The health department is aiming to conduct 8,000 to 10,000 tests a day for COVID-19 to further determine the pandemic situation in the country.
