MANILA, Philippines — The deadline for the filing of government workers’ Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net worth (SALN) has been extended until June 30, 2020, in light of the coronavirus crisis, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles announced Tuesday.
Nograles, spokesman of the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, said the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has issued a memorandum giving state workers additional 60 days to submit their SALN.
Under the law, the SALN must be filed on or before April 30 of every year.
“Para naman po sa government workers, isa pong paalala: nag-issue na po ang Civil Service Commission ng Memorandum Circular na binibigyan ang opisyal at empleyado ng additional 60 days o hanggang June 30 para i-file ang kanilang Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net worth o SALN,” Nograles said in a virtual press briefing.
(A reminder for government workers: The Civil Service Commission issued a memorandum circular giving officials and employees additional 60days or until June 30, to file their SALN.)
The submission of a SALN is required by law under Article XI Section 17 of the 1987 Constitution and Section 8 of Republic Act No. 6713, the “Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.”
It includes a waiver authorizing the Ombudsman to obtain documents that may show assets, liabilities, net worth, business interests, and financial connections from all appropriate government agencies.
