Lawyer Romulo B. Lumauig; 88

MANILA, Philippines — Lawyer Romulo B. Lumauig peacefully died on April 4 at the age of 88.

Lolo Romy, as he was known by his grandchildren, was born on May 31, 1931, and devoted his life to public service until his retirement.

He was a brilliant lawyer, a former congressman of Ifugao, deputy minister of the Department of Trade and Industry, a legislative adviser to then-President Fidel Ramos, former president of UP Vanguard, a stalwart officer of the Philippine Constitution Association and the Manila Lions Club, and a member of the Beta Sigma fraternity.

On his retirement, he wrote a book titled “Treading Life’s Terraces,” about his journey as a member of the Ifugao tribe in Manila.

He was also an active member of the Gaddang community.

Lumauig is survived by his wife, Erlinda; his children, Romulo Roman and Annabelle, Jesus Victor, Nona Romilda and Jose Antonio, Maria Eliza and John Louis; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
