Burger joint crew member killed while walking home

A teenager working for a fast-food chain of restaurants was gunned down before dawn Monday as he was walking home from work.

The victim, 19-year-old Jonathan Lara, died on the spot of a gunshot wound in the head. He was a crew member of a burger restaurant in Ali Mall, a shopping mall at Cubao, Quezon City.

Inspector Elmer Monsalve, homicide investigation chief of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said the teenager was killed in his neighborhood.

A check of the footage taken by a closed circuit television camera installed near the crime scene showed the victim’s killer as a motorcycle rider wearing a baseball cap. He was armed with a .38-cal. revolver.

The shooting happened at 12:59 a.m. Monday in De Jesus Compound near Malvar Street in Barangay (village) San Agustin, Quezon City, where the victim lived.

At that time, Lara was walking home when a man on a motorcycle drove by and shot him. Investigators have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
