COVID-19 patient in Legazpi City transferred to hospital

LEGAZPI CITY –– The American citizen who tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in this city was admitted to a hospital for quarantine.

Mayor Noel Rosal said the patient was transferred to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The 52-year-old patient tagged as PH766 arrived in the city on March 8.

He had a check-up at the BRTTH on March 16 due to coughing. He was discharged for home quarantine the following day, after a swab test.

Antonio Ludovice, chief of Albay provincial health office, said that the patient had his second throat swab test last Saturday and now asymptomatic.

His Filipina girlfriend, also a PUI, was also quarantined at the BRTTH, Ludovice said.

They rented an apartment in Barangay Bagumbayan, which was under total lockdown since Friday (March 27) night.

Rosal has also ordered a total lockdown in Barangays Ilawod West and Ilawod for contact tracing and disinfection.

The lockdown order in Ilawod was lifted at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

The other two COVID-19 patients in the towns of Guinobatan and Bacacay were still on home quarantine.
