Naga confirms new COVID-19 case; Bicol now has 5 cases
GUINOBATAN, Albay—A 30-year-old woman in Naga City tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing Bicol region’s total number of confirmed cases to five.
In an online announcement, Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion said that the patient was admitted to Bicol Medical Center (BMC).
He said that on Jan. 30, the patient went to Caloocan City after arriving in the country from Dubai.
The patient, whose case code has yet to be announced by the Department of Health, boarded an Isarog Bus on March 4 at 9 p.m. and arrived the next day. She went to a relative’s house in Sister Therese Subdivision on Concepcion Pequeña village, the mayor said.
The patient also went to Albay province on March 8, according to the mayor.
“She went to Mayon Resthouse in Albay on board a private van,” Legacion said.
The patient had fever and shortness of breathing on March 19, prompting her to go to Bicol Cardiovascular Diagnostic Cooperative (BCDC) before she was referred to BMC.
“Because of her symptoms and her travel history, nasopharyngeal swabbing was conducted. The sample was brought to Research Institute of Tropical Medical (RITM) and she was confined in BMC,” Legacion said.
The city government has conducted contact tracing and disinfection of the patient’s residence and the places she visited.
Legacion also said that the community has been put in quarantine.
