MANILA, Philippines — Public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers in Taguig City will receive a P4,000 financial assistance per month after their source of income was paralized by the suspension of mass transport services during the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine, city government said Friday.

The  city government posted on social media that financial aid will be given to 15,000 members of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association (JODA), Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) and Pedicab Operators and Drivers Association (PODA) in the next two months.

“Isa sa programa ng Taguig City government ang pagbibigay ng P4,000 kada buwan sa susunod na 2 buwan sa mahigit na 15,000 miyembro ng JODA, PODA, at TODA,” the message read.

(One of the programs of the Taguig government is to provide P4,000 cash assistance per month in the next two months to 15,000 members of JODA, PODA, and TODA.)

The local government imposed a lockdown on March 17 which means going to and from Taguig City will be strictly regulated.

As of Thursday, the city has recorded 27 confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, with two deaths.

The city government is also keeping an eye on 132 persons under investigation and 93 persons under monitoring.
