Sorsogon rescues stranded residents in CamSur

LEGAZPI CITY — Fifty two Sorsogon residents stranded in Del Gallego, Camarines Sur due to the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine were fetched by a “sweeper team” on Thursday.

Salvador Mendoza, Sorsogon information officer, said most of them were construction workers who walked from National Capital Region.

They would undergo a 14-day quarantine in the classrooms converted into isolation areas in Sorsogon State College before they are allowed to go home.

Doctors and staff of the provincial health office were tasked to monitor their condition.

Mendoza said all their basic needs were also provided by the province.

The Bicol Interagency Task Force has directed all the local chief executives to fetch their starnded constituents in different borders and ports in the region.

Last Monday, March 23, 58 individuals in Camarines Sur were also picked up by the team formed by Governor Francis Escudero.
