VILLAGE CHIEF, TANODS CLEARED

THE Office of the Ombudsman in the Visayas dismissed the charges filed against the chieftain and two tanods of barangay Uling, Naga City accused of shooting a man.

The anti-graft office found no probable cause to indict Justino Dakay as well as barangay tanods Felecisimo Quimada and Rodrigo Seldas on charges of frustrated murder and illegal possession of firearms.

The issue stemmed from the complaint of Junrey Gabuya who accused the three men of shooting him last July 1, 2010.

Gabuya said he was urinating outside his house when he saw the respondents armed with handguns.

The complainant ran but he was allegedly shot in the left arm.

Gabuya, however, managed to escape.

In his counter-affidavit, the barangay captain said the complainant is facing robbery charges in court and was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by a court.

He said Gabuya tried to escape and fired shots at them. /REPORTER ADOR VINCENT S. MAYOL
