The country’s most-feared Filipino mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter is coming to town as Eduard “The Landslide” Folayang competes in the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) fight card called URCC 7 at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City this Friday.
Folayang is currently the URCC welterweight champion and the powerhouse fighter holds a 10-1 (win-loss) mark, which he will put on the line against Brazilian Wadson Teixeira.
Teixeira is a three-time Muay Thai champion in his country.
The return of the most decorated MMA fighter in the country will highlight the 10-fight event.
“We want to the start the year right, so we are bringing Eduard back to the MMA scene,” said URCC president Alvin Aguilar. “It’s going to be one big event in Cebu because the sport is fast gaining popularity in the south.”
Folayang is coming off a successful Southeast Asian Games campaign in Indonesia, where he retained his title, a feat that reinforced his status as the country’s most successful wushu and MMA artist of his generation.
Already a three-time SEA Games gold champion, the 28-year-old Folayang is gunning for his sixth straight URCC win.
