3.3 magnitude quake rocks parts of Lanao del Norte

ILIGAN CITY –– Residents in the southern part of Lanao del Norte were roused from their sleep Thursday evening, towards midnight, as a 3.3-magnitude quake struck off Kapatagan town.

Several residents in the town and nearby areas took to social media to ask other netizens if they also experienced “strong shaking.”

The earthquake bulletin of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tremor, which was tectonic in origin, struck four kilometers southeast of Kapatagan at a depth of four kilometers.

Intensity 4 was felt in Kapatagan and Intensity 3 in nearby Salvador town.

No damage was reported, so far, as a result of the tremor.

Phivolcs expected no aftershocks.
