LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines — To keep residents inside their homes during the enhanced community quarantine and with the closure of all borders in Camarines Sur’s Rinconada area, the agriculture office of Iriga City has launched its “Vegetable on Wheels” to sell basic goods to villagers.
A truck loaded with fresh vegetables, rice, eggs, onions, garlic, and other basic commodities, served as a mobile store.
The local government said vegetables were bought from local farmers in the city and sold to villagers at a lower price to ease the plight of poor households.
“This is one of the ways to help our farmers in their livelihood amid enhanced community quarantine,” it said in a Facebook post.
The local government also distributed free vegetable seeds from the Department of Agriculture to encourage families to do backyard gardening and be more productive while under home quarantine.
Since the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine, only one member of a family is allowed to go out to buy food and medicine supplies. Ma. April Mier-Manjares, @MaAprilMierINQ, Inquirer Southern Luzon
