More buses, routes made available to NCR healthcare workers

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Thursday deployed additional buses and  opened new routes to help healthcare workers report for work in Metro Manila while public transportation is suspended during the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis.

The DOTr, in a statement, said it will tap an additional 70 buses for the transportation needs of  health workers.

DOTr added that it mapped out seven additional  routes to transport the health workers. Buses will transport passengers at 5:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

The government placed the entire Luzon under enhanced community quarantine due to the increasing number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases cases which now stands at 202 including 17 fatalities.
