3 nabbed for possession of illegal drugs in Naga City

LEGAZPI CITY Police arrested three suspected drug personalities while implementing the curfew in Naga City early Monday.

Colonel Felix Servita Jr., Naga City police chief,  said in a report that Joselito Navelino, 21, a garbage collector in Barangay (village) Balatas was arrested at around 2:15 a.m.

While the Naga police and barangay watchmen were implementing curfew, they approached Navelino who was walking along the area.

He tried to escape but was cornered by the police, prompting them to put Navelino under arrest. They recovered a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) from Navelino’s coin purse.

At around 2:55 a.m., in the same village, the police arrested John Joseph Yukim, 32, and Raven De Vera, 25, after being flagged down while onboard a motorcycle.

The police recovered eight sachets of suspected shabu from De Vera.

Mayor Nelson Legacion on Saturday has imposed a curfew from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. to all city dwellers as a pro-active measure to minimize the risk of transmission of COVID-19, a respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2, which outbreak started in China’s Wuhan City in Hubei province in late 2019.

The World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 a pandemic since it has infected more than 150,000 people and killed over 6,000 all over the world. To date, the Philippines has 140 people infected with COVID-19, including 12 deaths.
