2 motorists killed in Quezon mishaps

LUCENA CITY –– A tricycle driver and a motorcycle rider were killed in separate road accidents here and Sariaya town in Quezon province on Monday and Tuesday, police reports said.

Motorcyclist Marlon Quinto, 43, overtook another vehicle and collided head-on with an oncoming sports utility vehicle being driven by Heliardo Frias in a national road in Barangay Cotta in this city at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, the Lucena police said.

Quinto suffered severe injuries and died while being taken to Mount Carmel Diocesan General Hospital in the city proper.

In Sariaya, John Carlo Rolloque, 25, was driving his delivery tricycle when he bumped the oncoming cargo truck being driven by Ronelo Andayan along the ecotourism road in Barangay Talaan Aplaya at 11:50 a.m. Monday.

Rolloque died on the spot due to grave head and body injuries.

Citing information from Andayan, police said Rolloque’s tricycle wiggled, swerved, and consequently occupied the opposite lane that resulted in the accident.
