Police kill 2 drug suspects in shootout

Two suspected drug personalities were killed in a shootout with policemen during a buy-bust operation in Quezon City early on Friday. The suspects were identified as Allan Louis Canlas, 29, of Barangay Pasong Tamo and Asnawi Batuas aka Boss, 42, of Barangay Culiat. An undercover agent tried to buy illegal drugs from the suspects around 2 a.m. on Friday along Herrera Drive corner Quirino Highway in Barangay Bagbag. But the suspects sensed they were dealing with a cop and pulled out their guns. In the brief shootout, the suspects were killed. Recovered from the suspects were 50 grams of “shabu” (crystal meth) worth about P1.3 million. —Mariejo S. Ramos
