Panelo: Ressa in Time’s list ‘maybe a mistake’

/ 04:05 AM March 07, 2020

Malacañang has downplayed veteran journalist Maria Ressa’s inclusion in Time Magazine’s list of most influential women as a possible “mistake” on the part of the prestigious publication. “Mistakes happen. Maybe this is one of them,” presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said. He later said the Palace could not do anything about it “if that is the perception of those who measure her.” “She’s a good journalist, as far as I’m concerned. Except that she cannot go beyond her biases,” Panelo added. Ressa and the late President Corazon Aquino were included in Time Magazine’s 100 Women of the Year special issue this March. —Julie M.
