3 suspected robbers dead in Pampanga shootout

Three suspected robbers were killed when they reportedly engaged policemen in a shootout in Santo Tomas town, Pampanga province at dawn on Tuesday.

Colonel Jean Fajardo, Pampanga provincial police director, said one of the slain suspects was an active policeman based in Camp Crame in Quezon City. He was identified as Staff Sargent Wilson Castro, a resident of Florida town also in Pampanga.

The two other suspects were identified as Segundino Eliaso and Eduardo Caluag, both from Taguig City in Metro Manila.

Fajardo said policemen from Pampanga’s capital city of San Fernando responded to a report that the suspects, who were aboard a black sedan, robbed a 48-year-old victim around 2 a.m. in the City of San Fernando.

The victim said the suspects took his bag that contained P10,000 cash.

Fajardo said that during a brief chase that reached Santo Tomas town, the suspects fired shots at the responding policemen while trying to escape.

The suspects died of gunshot wounds during the encounter with the policemen.
