Korean found dead in Malate pension house

MANILA, Philippines — A Korean national was found dead inside his room at a pension house in Malate, Manila Thursday, authorities said on Friday.

Police Officer 3 Amelito Lopez, case investigator from the Homicide Section of the Manila Police District (MPD), said Jae Gun Oh, 54, was found dead at room 318 of the Lovely Moon Pension along J. Bocobo Street in Malate, Manila at around 7:30 a.m. by room attendant Reymark Placencia.

The fatality was a former area manager for a Korean casino at the Hyatt Hotel, Lopez said in a report he submitted to Homicide Section chief Senior Inspector Joselito de Ocampo.

The victim’s body bore no injuries or signs of physical struggle.

Initial investigation indicated that Jae had checked in at the pension house last December 28 and was administered with dextrose by a Korean doctor for dehydration.

MPD said that it has notified the Korean Embassy through Wesley Go of the embassy’s legal assistance.

Meanwhile, Jae’s body has been turned over to a funeral parlor for autopsy.
