Police investigates murder of businessman in Tondo
MANILA, Philippines — Police yesterday said that they were investigating the murder on Thursday of a businessman in Tondo, Manila.
Senior Police Officer 1 Mario Asilo, case investigator from the Homicide Section of the Manila Police District, identified the victim as 57-year-old businessman Napoleon Aniceto of Tondo, Manila who was gunned down near the railroad tracks at Old Antipolo Street at around 3 p.m.
He said that Aniceto sustained several gunshot wounds from a caliber .45 pistol.
Witnesses who told police that they saw Aniceto alight from his black Mazda 3 (DFO-549), said that the victim appeared to be waiting for someone near the tracks, before several shots rang out.
They said that they saw two men wearing black shirts walk away from the area but were reluctant to provide police with further information on the incident.
Recovered from the scene were 12 spent shells and two slugs from a caliber .45 pistol.
Article continues after this advertisementAsilo added that the suspects did not take the victim’s wallet but it only held P21 and several identification cards. The keys to Aniceto’s vehicle were also nowhere to be found.
Aniceto’s remains have been turned over to a funeral parlor for autopsy.
