MANILA, Philippines — INQUIRER.net denied on Monday that an article about a weight loss product was posted on its website, contrary to the claim of the article’s webpage.

The article — titled “Philippines will get 12500 packets of a universal weight loss product by the institute of nutritional science at a special price” — shows a copied layout of the INQUIRER.net website, claiming that a “special offer for Makati citizens has been extensive to 2 March inclusive.”

The site advertises the product “Black Latte,” which it said contains antioxidants.

FEATURED STORIES

The webpage even shows a photo of physician Willie Ong, supposedly to add credibility to the article, as well as other celebrities who supposedly had lost weight.

An inspection of  the webpage, however, shows the copied layout was hosted on ohtracker.om then embedded on myshopify.com.

Clicking the logo of the site in the forged layout will also lead to a webpage that sells the product. But in the legitimate INQUIRER.net website, clicking the header would lead the user to the homepage.

In the same way, clicking the byline at the fraudulent site leads to a blank page. In INQUIRER.net, doing so would lead to a list of all the other articles of the reporter.
