MANILA, Philippines — Law enforcers have confiscated almost P7 million worth of crystal meth or shabu, which was placed inside Chinese tea bags, during a buy-bust operation in Manila, chief of National Capital Region Police Office said Wednesday.
In a press conference at Ermita police station, Metro Manila police chief Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas told reporters that police seized 1.025 kilograms of shabu worth P6.97 million.
“This is one of the biggest na nakuha (seized) sa Manila Police District,” Sinas said, noting that the shabu is “good quality” as it is stored inside Chinese tea bags.
Sinas said the shabu was seized from three male suspects, whose names are yet to be identified, during the bust along Dagupan Extension near corner Raxabago Street in Tondo at 12 noon Wednesday.
The courier of the suspects identified as Kevin Jason, 28, was arrested during a follow-up operation.
Sinas also noted that the suspects are suppliers of illegal drugs outside Manila.
The operation was conducted by members of Ermita police station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit in Manila.
The suspects are detained at Ermita police station while appropriate charges are being filed against them.
