St. La Salle, PH Army make final

The volleybelles of RTM-University of St. La Salle and the Philippine Army forged a finals showdown as they logged crucial wins at the close of the elimination round of the Baybayon, Looc, Mandaue Volleyball Open at the Looc gym.

The wards of head coach Fr. Rolando T. Manayon, featuring a collection of talent from the USLS Stingers in Bacolod and his own stalwarts from Pajo National High School such as April Rose Hingpit, Sheryl June Denila, Patty Jane Orendain, Royce Quijano, Janice Dolar, Rebbie Delotindo and Gretchel Soltones, defeated two local powerhouses in the reigning Guv Cup champions Mandaue and the Cesafi titlists Southwestern University (SWU).

RTM-USLS downed Mandaue in two thrilling sets, 25-23, 25-21, and then took care of SWU in a three-set thriller, 25-18, 22-25, 25-14.

The Philippine Army, bounced back from their shocking upset at the hands of Cesafi finalists University of San Carlos, 14-25, 19-25, and clobbered Mandaue, 25-17, 25-21.

FEATURED STORIES

Starring in their pivotal win were the Carolino siblings, Mayette and Michelle, and the hard-hitting Joanne Bunag, Dahlia Cruz and Mary Jean Balse.

Figuring in the battle for third place were SWU and Mandaue. That game along with the finals showdown were still being played as of this writing.

The champion squad will walk away with P30,000 while the runners-up will bag P15,000 and P10,000.
