Bello reminds firms of holiday pay rules

MANILA, Philippines — Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III on Sunday reminded employers to strictly follow the proper pay rules on Feb. 25, the 34th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution.

The Labor and Employment department issued Advisory No. 08 (Series of 2020) prescribing that workers should be paid an additional 30 percent of their daily rate on the first eight hours of work for work done during the special nonworking holiday.—Tina G. Santos
