Legislator urges rescue plan for tourism sector
MANILA, Philippines — Surigao del Sur Rep. and Deputy Speaker Johnny Pimentel urged tourism and labor officials to draw up plans for thousands of Filipinos who could lose their employment as a result of the massive toll on the tourism sector by the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Philippines stands to lose as many as 1.2 million visitors from China this year due to the virus outbreak, Pimentel said.—DJ Yap
