Man charged for stabbing daughter in Cagayan province

TUGUEGARAO CITY –– A man was charged with parricide on Friday (Feb. 14) for killing his 6-year-old daughter with a screwdriver in the Cagayan town of Iguig.

Police Lieutenant Divina Lagua, Iguig police spokesperson, said the man tried to escape but has been arrested for stabbing the girl three times. The police did not release their names.


The girl’s grandmother came to fetch the girl when she found her lying dead with the murder weapon protruding from her stomach. The victim also bore strangulation marks.

The police suspect that the father has a mental illness. He did not answer questions by the police and had not uttered a single word since his arrest.


The girl’s mother was in Santa Ana town to buy fish and fish paste, which would be resold in Iguig./lzb
