Woman dies, husband hurt in hacking incident in Sorsogon

LEGAZPI CITY –– A woman died while her husband was hurt in a hacking incident in Bulan town in Sorsogon province early Saturday.

Major Joel Triñanes, Bulan police chief, said around 1 a.m., Ramil Alvarez, 50, hacked Fiderico Gidoc, 64, after a heated argument in Barangay Obrero. Gidoc suffered from minor injuries in his hand.

His wife Libertad, 61, lost consciousness after pacifying the commotion and was taken to a hospital but died on the way.

“Based on the version of the suspect, Fiderico entered their house armed with a bolo and challenged him to a fight. They were both drunk,” Triñanes.

The barangay officials turned over the suspect to the police after the incident.

Triñanes said they were eyeing personal grudge as a motive for the hacking./lzb
