Expect heavier traffic along Roxas Boulevard
Commuters should expect slightly heavier traffic along Roxas Boulevard for at least two months, as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Friday announced plans to relocate electric posts along the area to pave the way for the construction of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) 1 Cavite Extension Project.
The MMDA said several electric posts along the boulevard between Redemptorist Road and Bradco Avenue would be relocated during a 70-day period.
The LRT Line 1 extension will provide an additional 11.7 kilometers to the existing 20.7 km LRT Line 1 system.
It will cover the cities of Parañaque and Las Piñas in Metro Manila and Bacoor in Cavite. and is seen to partially operate by 2021.
Once completed, it’s expected to increase LRT Line 1’s ridership from 500,000 to 800,000 per day and reduce travel time between Baclaran and Bacoor, Cavite, to only 25 minutes. —Krixia Subingsubing
