TACLOBAN CITY –– At least four fishermen were rescued in the waters off Southern Leyte on Tuesday, four days after their motorized pump boat malfunctioned.

The rescued fishermen were identified as Jaffrey Lamac, 34; Rocky Abenales, 23; Jemar Loyola, 24; and Jonathan Jaca,   16.

All of them are residents of Dulag town in Leyte province.

The report of the San Juan town police said the four fishermen were on board a motorized pump that went out to sea on Jan. 11.

While they were fishing within the jurisdiction of Abuyog town, Leyte, their motorboat developed engine trouble.

The fishermen’s boat just kept floating until it reached the waters off Barangay Bobon A in San Juan.

A village official of Bobon A called up the local police for help.  The police immediately went to the area to rescue the four fishermen./lzb
