Davao sending food packs to Taal eruption evacuees

DAVAO CITY –– The city government of Davao is sending food packs to families displaced by the eruption of the Taal volcano on Sunday.

The city government on Tuesday announced that they were accepting donations through Task Force Davao for Davaoeños who want to help the evacuees.

Colonel Consolito Yecla, Task Force Davao Commander, said his troops were preparing the food packs for the families who have settled in temporary shelters.

He said their headquarters at the Sta. Ana Wharf Compound would cater to all donations from people who may want to help.

Yecla said his troops were targeting to reach the evacuation centers on January 17.

The initial target areas in Batangas are Sto. Tomas, Tanauan, and Calaca, Yecla added.

“The Oplan Tabang organized by City Mayor Sara Duterte hopes to ease the suffering of the evacuees,” he said./lzb
