Man charged with rape poops in court, refuses to change out of dirty clothes
A man who is charged with rape and two counts of sexual assault soiled himself on his way to the restroom mid-trial today, Jan. 14 in Singapore. He also stained his shirt with feces and refused to change his dirty clothes.
Apparently, this was not the first time that 49-year-old Isham Kayubi excreted bodily waste while in the middle of proceedings, as per Channel News Asia today. In his hearing last August, he reportedly urinated and flashed his penis in court. The judge at the time dismissed the proceeding to have Isham undergo a psychiatric assessment; results indicated that he is mentally sound.
The suspect was a part-time food deliveryman when he lured two girls, aged 14 during the time of the crime in 2017, into his house under false pretenses and raped them. He also allegedly forced them to fellate him and filmed the process, as per the report.
If proven guilty, Isham could serve in jail for up to 20 years and could be fined or caned for each charge of rape.
Isham’s trial today was delayed for an hour after he soiled himself. The man also refused to be changed into clean clothes and he returned to the court with his soiled pants and smeared shirt, according to the report. He was also flanked by the police while they wore masks and gloves.
The public prosecutor argued that Isham should be issued a warning to refrain from any acts to delay further proceedings. Justice See Kee Oon also concluded that Isham’s acts were “contemptuous.” The judge said relevant charges against him due to the event should be considered.
The trial continued this afternoon after the judge urged the court to get the suspect out of his dirty clothes during lunch break. Cha Lino/NVG
