In an odd demonstration of the Christmas spirit, a man decided to put a holiday spin on bank robbery by throwing the stolen cash away on the streets in Colorado, United States.

David Wayne Oliver, 65, walked into the Academy Bank last Monday, Dec. 23, claiming he was armed and demanded money, as per CBS affiliate KKTV on the same day.

The 65-year-old then walked out of the bank and began throwing all the money into the air while shouting “Merry Christmas!” according to witness Dion Pascale.

“He robbed the bank, came out, threw the money all over the place,” Pascale was quoted as saying. Police, however, have yet to confirm the eyewitness’ account.

The money was then scooped up by bystanders and returned to the bank teller, as per report. Oliver meanwhile sat down in a coffee shop beside the bank.

Oliver was then taken into custody by the Colorado Springs Police. Pascale said the 65-year-old just “sat down and waited for the cops. It was almost like he wanted it to happen.” Ian Biong/JB
