Cellphones, other contraband seized in 2 QC jails
MANILA, Philippines — Police found cell phones and other contraband from detention cells of the Kamuning Police Station and the Quezon City Jail in greyhound operations on Monday.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said those confiscated were six cellphones, a flash drive, knives and other bladed weapons, a slingshot, cigarettes, aluminum foil, and stainless spoon and fork.
The greyhound operations were launched at about 4 a.m.
According to NCRPO, the operations were based on the memorandum issued by the Department of the Interior and Local Government dated February 20 and a memorandum from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology – National Capital Region in July 11 to inspect jails for the possible recovery of contrabands.
The seized cell phones and flash drive will be submitted to the Anti-Cybercrime Team of the Quezon City Police District for forensic examination.
