3 suspected robbers killed in shootout with Bulacan cops

MANILA, Philippines — Three suspected robbers were killed in a shootout with police officers during a chase in Pandi, Bulacan, police said Monday.

Police said an informant tipped them that three armed men “acting suspiciously” were seen in front of an appliance center in Barangay Poblacion on Sunday night.

Patrollers were dispatched to the area to confirm the report, but the men fled on a motorcycle towards Woodbridge Subdivision when approached by the police.

This prompted a brief chase, followed by gunshots from the suspected robbers as they were evading the responding officers along E. De Guzman Street at about 8:45 p.m., police said.

They succumbed to gunshot wounds when police retaliated.

Police have yet to identify the three men.

Recovered from the scene of encounter were a caliber .38 revolver, a caliber 9mm pistol, several spent shells, and a hand grenade.
