LTFRB: Angkas fate known only after pilot test

/ 05:10 AM December 06, 2019

Amid calls from commuters to keep Angkas on the road, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) maintained that it would decide the motorcycle-hailing company’s fate after its six-month pilot test ends on Dec. 26. This means that Angkas drivers still have two weeks to pass the safety metrics set by the technical working group that has been monitoring them since May. The LTFRB made the announcement as chances grew slim for Congress to pass before the year’s end a law allowing motorbikes to operate as public utility vehicles. Earlier this week, netizens who said they had grown dependent on the bike-hailing service for their daily commute appealed to the LTFRB to “save Angkas,’’ with the testing period about to end. –KRIXIA SUBINGSUBING
