DepEd on Tulfo issue with teacher: There is a proper forum for such matters
MANILA, Philippines — There is a proper forum to discuss and resolve issues between teachers and students, the Department of Education said Saturday, in reaction to how journalist Raffy Tulfo pressured a teacher to quit her job.
“There is proper forum to discuss issues that will resolve and improve these said concerns,” the DepEd said in a statement released Saturday.
Tulfo reaped the ire of netizens as he pressured a teacher, who was accused of humiliating a student, to willingly have her license revoked.
“We need cooperation and coordination of all stakeholders to maintain trust, respect, and dignity of all learners, teachers, and administrators of schools.”
The department also urged the public not to spread photos of the involved student and teacher, as well as videos of the incident as this will have a “further impact on them and their families.”
The DepEd also added that in issues such as these, it shall “take care and protect both the learner and teacher through due process which is already existing at all levels of governance.”
