4 dead as truck rams tricycle in Isabela

CABATUAN, Isabela –– A tricycle driver and three of his passengers died after a wayward truck rammed the tricycle they were riding here on Monday afternoon.

Police Major Richard Babaran, Cabatuan police chief, identified the victims as Wilson Guillermo, 56, of Sampaloc village here, and passengers Jerry Yu, 61, of Barangay 3, San Mateo town; Jahlen Acosta, 19, of Del Pilar village here, and Juanita Iglesia, 69, of Burgos, Ramon town.

Initial investigation said the truck driven by Marvin de Guzman, 35, of San Pedro, Mallig town, overtook another vehicle and occupied the opposite lane before colliding head-on with the approaching tricycle about 3 p.m. in Del Pilar.

Guillermo died on the spot. The three passengers died while being taken to a hospital, police said.
