Magnitude 5.9 quake jolts Bukidnon
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.9 earthquake hit Bukidnon on Monday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Phivolcs said the quake was recorded at 9:22 p.m., with the epicenter located six kilometers northwest of Kadingilan in Bukidnon.
The quake which was of tectonic origin had a depth of 10 kilometers.
Intensity V was recorded in Kidapawan City while Intensity IV was recorded in Davao City and Cotabato City.
Phivolcs said aftershocks were expected following the quake.
The October series of earthquakes left at least 14 people dead and scores wounded.
Hundreds of residents in North Cotabato and Davao del Sur continue to live in makeshift shelters after houses and buildings were destroyed. —Karlos Manlupig
