CEBU CITY, Cebu, Philippines – The National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI 7) seized packs of crystal meth, or shabu, worth P10.5 million in two operations in Cebu City on Friday, Nov. 8.

At past 7 p.m., NBI 7 agents, backed by members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA 7), served a search warrant against 34-year-old Maricor Pocong of Barangay Punta Princessa, Cebu City.

Confiscated from Pocong were 1.2 kilograms of shabu with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P10.2 million

“We intensified our surveillance operations against her for one week and when we already have enough evidence, we applied and then served the warrant,” Enrile said.

According to Enrile, Pocong admitted having distributed illegal drugs to other drug peddlers.

During an interview, Enrile said Pocong gave the name of another drug distributor whom she identified as Wigner Sayago.

Enrile said they conducted another operation to arrest Sayago in his house in Barangay Bulacao Pardo in Cebu City at around 10 p.m. of the same day.

Seized from Sayago’s possession were at least 50 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P300,000.

Enrile said they started conducting an in-depth probe to identify Pocong and Sayago’s supplier of illegal drugs.

Charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, particularly for selling and possession of illegal drugs, are set to be filed against the two suspects.
