MANILA, Philippines — But won’t I bring disruption to anti-drug operations?

This was what Vice President Leni Robredo raised as she accepted the challenge of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron Aquino to join one of the agency’s anti-drug operations.

“Pero kung yayayain ako, pupunta ako, pero ang pinakatanong lang: Hindi ba ako makakaistorbo, ‘di ba?,” Robredo told reporters Saturday.

(If someone will invite me, I will join, but the question is: Won’t I disrupt, right?)

“Kasi iyong sa akin, kapag mayroong mga istorbo, lalong nako-compromise iyong operasyon,” the Vice President added.

(For me, if there is a disruption, it will compromise the operation more.)

Nevertheless, she expressed her willingness in joining PDEA operatives in anti-drug operations, provided that her presence will not prove disruptive.

“Pero kung sa willingness, willing ako. Kung tingin nila hindi ako makaka-istorbo, I would gladly be there,” the Vice President said.

(But when it comes to willingness, I’m willing. If they think I won’t create any disruption, I would gladly be there.)

During her meeting with the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD), Robredo also floated her idea of scrapping the controversial “Oplan Tokhang” and replacing it with a new anti-drug campaign.

However, this differs from Aquino’s belief that “Tokhang” should stay.  /muf
