All Saints’ Day blaze guts house in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY –– A fire burned a house in Barangay Centro II in the Cagayan town of Lasam on All Saints Day (Nov. 1).

Fire investigators traced the 10:55 a.m. fire to an overheated electric fan as couple Antonio and Maria Barata prepared to visit the local cemetery, said Fire Inspector Artemio Salvatierra, Lasam fire marshal. No one was hurt.


Maria was taking a bath while her husband waited for her at the backyard when the fire spread, destroying the P200,000 cash they earned from their palay sales. The home damage and burned appliances were estimated at P200,000.
