Dalian train test run extended till Nov. 30

/ 04:24 AM November 01, 2019

The Department of Transportation announced on Thursday that it was extending the initial trial run for one of 16 Dalian trains on the Metro Rail Transit 3 until Nov. 30 to allow management and the Japanese consortium Sumitomo-Mitsubishi-TESP to observe its operations for a longer period.

Since the Dalian train—one of several sets that passed rigorous commissioning and validation tests earlier this year—began its run on Oct. 15, the China-made unit has been operating smoothly and has garnered positive feedback from commuters.

But the train’s run on the mainline is still limited from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily, though this could be extended as more passengers are expected during the holiday season.

The Dalian trains were purchased during the Aquino administration and could ferry 1,050 passengers per trip.—Krixia Subingsubing
