Manila Water: Rationing, supply interruption may start October 24

MANILA, Philippines —Manila Water on Tuesday announced that daily rotational water supply service interruptions may in its franchise area may start on Thursday, October 24 due to the decreasing water level at Angat Dam.

“Kung magpapatuloy ang pagbaba ng lebel ng Angat Dam, posibleng ipatupad ng Manila Water ang sumusunod na schedule ng rotational water service interruption na maaaring magsimula sa Oktubre 24, 2019, Huwebes,” Manila Water said in an advisory. 

(If the water level in Angat Dam continues to drop,, Manila Water may possibly implement the following schedule of rotational water service interruption that may start on October 24, 2019, Thursday.)

Angat Dam, located in Norzagaray, Bulacan, is the main source of water for Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

In the advisory, Manila Water said that Rizal province and parts of Metro Manila, particularly Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, Manila, Parañaque, Quezon City, San Juan, Taguig and Pateros may be affected by the supply service interruption.

Manila Water added that it will implement the service interruption to ration the limited water supply until yearend, if Angat Dam’s water level fails to reach 212 meters. 

In the 6 a.m. bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the current water level in Angat Dam is at 186.46 meters, or a 0.31 decrease compared to Monday’s 186.77 meter level./gsg
