Robbers steal P4.5-M, defecate in victims’ home
SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna, Philippines — A businessman lost P4.5 million cash to robbers, who even mocked the homeowner by vandalizing and defecating in his house in Dasmariñas City in Cavite province.
Lt. Col. Nerwin Ricohermoso, the chief of the San Pedro City Police Station, said the incident took place at the house of Jovie Ryan Pedrido, a used-car dealer, in Barangay Salitran 3.
He said the robbery could have happened on Friday evening when the Pedrido’s family went away for an outing in adjacent Laguna province.
The incident was reported to the police on Saturday evening.
In a phone interview Sunday, Ricohermoso said the victims realized somebody had broken in when they found their back door forced open.
The family’s cash vault in the bedroom was also opened and the cash was missing.

Ricohermoso said it seemed the robbers knew the family was keeping money in the house as there was nothing else stolen.
“They also knew the family was away,” he added.
He said the police were working on identifying the suspects through security camera footage and the saliva samples collected from the drinking glass the robbers used in the house.
